Acclaimed British band, Rudimental have produced a multicultural sickle cell disease awareness charity song that will be showcased at the Earl’s Court Film Festival 2020.
“Higher” the charity song was written by the Sickle Plus team, who are based in Westminster and Earl’s Court, and has been created to raise awareness and to break the stigma that surrounds this medical condition.
Research has proven that patients that suffer with sickle cell blood disorder are very much misunderstood and misdiagnosed, the disorder needs to be placed on an international platform the stigma around it needs to be broken. Notifying the facts that sickle cell is inherited in different races is very necessary, representing different groups of people prone to have sickle cell trait: Africans, Caribbean’s, Mediterraneans, Greeks Hispanics, Turkish, Arabic, Italians, Asians, South American Indians, the first Jewish Israeli families found to have the trait in the year 2000 and one in a five-hundred Caucasians.
