Dr. Adekunle Adekile
Professor and Chairman, Department of Paediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Kuwait and Head, Pediatric Hematology Unit, Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital, Kuwait.
Dr. Adekile had his medical education at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. His Pediatric Hematology fellowship was at the Howard University Hospital, Washington, DC. He was a Fogarty International Research fellow under Professor Titus Huisman at the Sickle Cell Center, Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, GA, USA between 1990 and 1993. He moved to Kuwait in 1993 and established a Hemoglobin Research program in the Department of Pediatrics.
His main research interest is in genetic factors modifying the sickle cell disease expression with expertise on patients with the Arab/India βS-globin gene haplotype. He is the recipient of several research grants and has published widely in his area of interest.
